Terms Of Subscription
Choice Subscriptions
Subscription terms for choice subscriptions at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein
SUBSCRIPTION CONTRACT
A subscription contract becomes valid with a personally signed application to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, unless the Deutsche Oper am Rhein states in writing within 14 days that it contests the contract. The subscription can be granted only for an entire season; premature termination is inadmissible. These terms are an integral part of the subscription contract. Beyond this the General Terms and Conditions are applicable to subscription contracts insofar as no especial terms of contract therein may be directly applicable.
EXTENSION OF SUBSCRIPTION
A subscription can be taken out only for an entire season and cannot be terminated prematurely. Subscriptions are prolonged automatically for the next season unless notice is given in writing by 30 April of the current season.
TRANSFERABILITY OF SUBSCRIPTIONS
Subscriptions are transferable.
PROGRAMME ALTERATIONS
The Deutsche Oper am Rhein reserves the right to alter dates, performances and cast. No substitute will be granted for performances which are prevented by force majeure, or those which the subscription holder fails to attend. If a cancellation is caused by strike action, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein will endeavour to provide a substitute. If this proves impossible, the price of the seat will generally be reimbursed in the form of an exchange voucher with 3 months’ validity. The decision on this in each case rests with the theatre management.
EXCHANGE OF FIXED PERFORMANCES
If a fixed performance cannot be attended, the subscriber can exchange performances up to twice per season (exception to this is the so-called première subscription, as generally no alternative premières are available to be exchanged with). For an exchange to be valid the subscription ticket for the originally planned performance which cannot be attended must have been returned to the subscription service at the latest one working day (Monday to Friday until 12:00 h) before that performance. In this case the subscription service in the applicable opera shop will issue a voucher valid for attendance at another performance. This must be met within three months, after which it becomes invalid. Vouchers may be redeemed at the normal advance sales box office.
A right to insist on any particular performance or seat is not given. If no seat in the seat block concerned is available for a requested performance, it is possible to opt for a more expensive seat and to pay the difference. No partial refund will be made for a cheaper seat.
No substitute will be granted for lost vouchers. Generally the vouchers cannot be used for premières, New Year’s Eve, guest performances or special events. If the subscription card is not presented in good time an exchange is not permissible.
SUBSCRIPTION CARDS
Subscription cards are held by the subscription service concerned for collection if the holder so wishes. Otherwise they will be sent carriage paid by mail. Mailing is at subscriber’s risk. The card lists the performances it covers throughout the entire season. In Düsseldorf only, subscriptions with eight performances fix seven specific performances and a voucher is attached for an eighth performance which must be used before the end of the season concerned. The subscription card entitles the holder to use free of charge all public transport of the Rhein-Ruhr transport group (national railways, regional railway, second class) to and from the performances on the days concerned.
MODE OF PAYMENT
Generally it is alternatively possible to pay once for all performances together or to pay in instalments. Full payment is due and must appropriately be made by 15 October, or for Düsseldorf in two instalments by 15 October and 15 March, for Duisburg in four instalments by 15 October, 15 December, 15 March and 15 June, permitted only by the Lastschrift debit collection warrant system. Alteration of the payment method is not accepted after 30 June of the year concerned.
All payments are to be transferred to the account number 10 160 463 of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein at the Düsseldorf Stadtsparkasse (bank sort code 300 501 10) citing the customer’s number. Payment in cash at the opera shops is not accepted. Customers’ numbers can be read off the subscription invoice which is presented together with the subscription card.
The Deutsche Oper am Rhein reserves the right to make the seats concerned available to others as long as the full payments or instalments (as applicable) have not been paid.
CHANGES OF ADDRESS
Alterations of names, addresses and bank accounts where applicable should be made known in writing. Only thus can relevant information in the future be imparted in good time.
